Under the hood: faster, sturdier, and harder to knock offline

Nathan ChapmanOctober 2, 2026#product-update#reliability#find-your-people

This week we rebuilt the plumbing behind Viable Brand: a faster path to your first report, a backup AI so tools keep working through outages, more reliable billing, and a database ready for growth.

Most of this week's work is invisible, which is the point. Here's what changed and what it means for you.

Your first report comes first.
Getting your three free reports used to start with a form. Now you describe what you built, in a sentence or two, or just your website, and see your Blue Ocean report straight away, before we ask for anything else. Name it and save it when you're ready.

Find Your People shows its work.
A Find Your People run searches the live web for real conversations, which takes about a minute. You now see what it's doing while it works (searching communities, checking threads, writing your outreach message), along with a progress bar and a reminder to keep the tab open.

A backup AI for when ours has a bad day
If our main AI provider has an outage, your tools now automatically switch to a backup instead of failing. If both are ever down at once, you'll get a clear "try again in a few minutes" message, nothing you entered is lost, and that run won't count against your daily limit.

Fair limits that keep the lights on
AI runs cost real money, so every AI tool now has a fair daily limit, and we've added safeguards so a spike in traffic can't run up a bill we'd have to pass on to you. Free accounts still get three Find Your People runs a day.

Billing that gets it right
Behind the scenes, subscriptions now always reflect your actual Stripe status, even if Stripe's notifications arrive late or out of order. If you're already subscribed, choosing a plan now takes you to your billing portal, so you can't accidentally pay twice.

A database ready for growth
We added 26 indexes so pages stay quick as the directory grows, capped how many connections each server opens so a busy day can't overwhelm the database, and moved every database change onto a tracked, tested process.

None of this needs anything from you. If you notice something off, reply to any of our emails or post in the Community. We read everything.
